Key Math Words and Operations with Sort for Problem Solving

This is a list I generated of key math words and their respective operations. My students have a copy of this sheet in their classroom handbooks so they can refer to it during math word problem solving lessons. This sheet is also a perfect teaching tool to prepare all students, but especially ELL students, with word problem vocabulary for standardized testing.

*Updated to include a key word math sort, so you can easily assess if students know which key words indicate the operations or procedures to use, whether it's add, subtract, multiply, divide, find the probability, or round.

*** If you are looking for even more math posters and anchor charts this is also include in this Elementary Math Posters resource.***

Please see this companion product that goes through steps for solving word problems and asks for math key words:

How to Solve Word Problems

*Please remember if you want to share this with other teachers you’ll need to buy additional licenses for only half the price.

Helpful as a large poster in my room and personal reference in INB for students. They constantly use it before asking me and usually ask to clarify what they already have found. My adult learners are constantly moving in and out throughout the non traditional school year calendar, so I am reminded by the new students when they arrive...can I have one of those too?
