Hi! I love helping other upper elementary teachers MAXIMIZE their word study schedules with activities, independent work, games, and centers (as featured in the Tarheelstate Teacher store), that make word study a *shockingly* enjoyable time of the day! My goal is to fast-track teachers to engaged word study success where students meet their word study block with a sense of urgency as they improve their spelling and word attack abilities!

I have over 19 years of experience in education and have been creating resources for word study since 2012. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction for K-12 Reading from NCSU and BA in Elementary Education from UNC-CH.

Teaching style
I get excited about small group teaching and stations where I can seamlessly differentiate instruction for every child while providing fun activities, engagement and variety, and the "down and dirty" practice that they need to develop mastery.
I believe collaboration and student discussion are key to any classroom environment. Students love to talk and I love to harness that excitement to increase learning and engagement.
It was in my looping experiences that I finally saw the staircase that links one grade level's skills, standards, and expectations to the next. I delved deep into the standards and found links that connected 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade standards.
