Description

Common Core requires students to have a deep understanding of multiplication concepts. It is not enough for them to memorize an algorithm. The Area Model teaches students how to multiply two digits or more using their knowledge of place value.

The following resources will make learning about multiplying by two or more digits exciting! (The preview file contains a free game! Be sure to download BEFORE you purchase!!!!)

*Poster that explains the strategy (pdf)
*Video tutorial for you, parents, and students (wmv file)
*Interactive smartboard lesson that introduces two digit by one digit multiplication then goes onto two digit by two digit. This 9 page file includes a rolling the dice game and a random number generator game.
*one practice page (pdf)
