Description

A great partner activity to use in math! Students must work with a partner in order to answer the following question:

What is the longest paper chain you can make using one 12 x 18 sheet of construction paper?

The packet includes all of the sheets necessary to plan, complete, and display this activity in your classroom!

In my own classroom, I try to complete one of these math challenge projects every month, it is something the students really look forward to each year!

I used this in my accelerated 7th grade math class. It was enough rigor to keep them working, but not hard enough to get stuck.

Great resource for measurement. It was engaging in that they were in competition to see who could make the longest chain.

The students were quite excited to see the various strategies used by the different groups. Students were tasked with explaining their process, which added to the rigor of the task.
