This file was created to give my students the much needed extra practice in solving multi-step word problems that is a crucial skill to learn in 3rd grade. There are 24 different word problems all varying in addition, subtraction, and multiplication. The word problem cards can be used in whole group or in small group with students working at different levels of differentiation. I have also included Doggie Dollars (manipulatives) to help students figure out the change due. This strategy is great for those who can not yet regroup which is not introduced until after 3rd grade with the Common Core.
I am SUPER EXCITED about this file and I hope you find it just as exciting. It will take a lot of practice before my students reach mastery, but this is certainly a fun way to practice with real-life situations. I researched prices to make sure to keep it real world. These problems can be used for practice or assessment and will also determine further discussion needed during daily Number Talks discussions and application.
I have also created many other Common Core Practice and Assessment files that I use daily in my own classroom. As I work through the Common Core, I will continue to add new assessments and activities that correlate with each standard. Be sure to check out my Q1 and Q2 Study Guides - Such Great Resources for Students and Parents, and my Associative, Commutative, and Distributive Property files, just a few TEACHER FAVORITES.
If you purchase this activity, please leave feedback. I am always interested in what fellow educators think of my activities and assessments for students. I teach third grade math and this assessment was made for immediate classroom use with my own students (laminating optional, but recommended). I hope you also find it very beneficial with the new Common Core Standards.
Thanks for checking out this assessment file. Be sure to check out the other games, charts, Ultimate Teacher Planners, and files I have created, while you are here. I have a few FREEBIES, too :)
