Solving Word problems is the toughest skill for the kids to grasp. This activity is great because it offers several learning opportunities into one activity and promotes higher level thinking as they solve, classify, analyze, and evaluate!
Materials included are:
32 problem solving cards that vary between single step and multi-step which use mathematical operations varying between addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Teacher directions page which includes ideas to incorporate classying each card based on the attributes of the word problem into your lesson. (one step problems vs. multi-step, mathematical operations, or other characteristic chosen by students)
Students directions page
2 pages to create their own problem to reinforce and apply their learning.
2 pages to solve and analyze a peer’s original word problem.
Opportunities for the analysis and evaluation of a variety of real world situations.
