In this activity, students practice the scientific inquiry skill of predicting with a bucket full of mixed shells. First, they take a sample of shells, sort and count. Then they predict a total number of each type based on their sample. Teacher instructions, scoring rubric, student recording page, and a predicting writing page with science notes are included in this lesson packet.
