Description

This product includes 2 versions: print stations (PDF) and a digital version more suitable for online learning (Google Slides).

Offline/Print version:

Drawing translations (slides), reflections (flips), and rotations (turns) is what students will get to do in this set of 3 fun and creative math stations. Students work through each math station, following the directions given on the station card to create a unique and colorful design. Students will be required to draw a coordinate grid or plane, plot points or vertices, label the x and y axes and the 4 quadrants, and draw a design including translations, reflections or rotations (depending on the station).

Includes:

-A description of how you may want to use the stations

-Station cards for each transformation (translation, reflection and rotation)

-A sample of a student's design that goes with each station to give students an idea of expectations.

-A choice of 2 checklists to keep track of student progress as students work through the stations to direct future teaching

-Blank graph paper

Online/digital version:

The online version is similar, but not quite as detailed and in-depth as the stations. I've included a teacher and student copy of the online version so you have an editable activity for you to modify and also a student version that's ready to go. You will easily modify the assignment to meet student needs by de(selecting) checkboxes beside the activity questions and sharing with students using Google Slides.

Includes:

-Editable "Teacher copy" for you to modify as you see fit

-Ready to go "Student copy" where you can simply (de)select checkboxes beside each question to address outcomes and differentiate where you need to and then share with your students!

By choosing different elements of the activity, this product is something you could use multiple times with the same students. Example: You get them to label the x and y axes, the 4 quadrants, label the axes by 2's, and create a translation. Perhaps the next time you use the activity, you have them label by 5's, create a rotation, and tell you about it in writing... Lots of ways to change things up!

Verify experimentally the properties of rotations, reflections, and translations:
Describe the effect of dilations, translations, rotations, and reflections on two-dimensional figures using coordinates.
Understand that a two-dimensional figure is similar to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, translations, and dilations; given two similar two-dimensional figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the similarity between them.
