I graduated from Juniata College with degrees in early childhood/elementary education with history. I've taught a bit of everything, from preschool through high school, in public and private settings. Experience

I've taught a bit of everything, from preschool through high school, in public and private settings. I homeschooled both of our children, writing much of their curriculum from kindergarten through graduation. I also planned their monthly book clubs and their history and field trip clubs. I volunteer at a small historic site, giving tours and leading workshops for students on field trips. I stay current through workshops, professional development seminars, and grad-level classes .

Teaching style

I think that learning should be fun and exciting! Children obtain and process information through their senses, so the more senses that are involved in any given activity, the more they will be able to relate and be engaged in their learning. I strive to help children think critically about their education and take ownership for their activities and their learning.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have served as a mentor teacher and won the North Carolina National History Day Teacher of the Year Award in 2022. I also participated in National History Day's Sacrifice for Freedom Program in 2022, culminating with a trip to study on-site in Hawaii.

My own education history

I graduated cum laude from Juniata College in 2001 with a BS in early education/elementary education with history.
