Experience

I am a high school English teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching English II and Creative Writing. I focus on helping students become stronger writers, critical thinkers, and more engaged learners. My teaching emphasizes real-world connections, using art, film, and discussion-based activities to make learning meaningful and relevant for students. All of the resources in this store are classroom-tested and designed to be practical, engaging, and easy to implement. My goal is to provide ready-to-use materials that save teachers time while keeping students actively involved.

Teaching style

My teaching style is centered on engagement, relevance, and student voice. I believe students learn best when they can connect what they are studying to the real world, so I frequently incorporate art, film, and discussion-based activities into my lessons. I focus on helping students think critically and express their ideas clearly through writing. Rather than relying on worksheets, I design interactive activities that encourage creativity, collaboration, and meaningful conversation. My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students can participate, build confidence, and take ownership of their learning.

My own education history

I hold a Master of Arts in Education from Truman State University and am certified in Missouri to teach English Language Arts in grades 5–12. Over the course of 30+ years in the classroom, I have taught students in grades 4–12, giving me a strong understanding of how to support learners at a wide range of ability levels. This experience allows me to design resources that are both rigorous and accessible, with clear scaffolding and practical strategies that work in real classrooms.

Additional biographical information

I became a teacher because education had a powerful impact on my own life. I have always believed that teaching is one of the most meaningful professions, as it opens opportunities and changes the trajectory of students’ lives. In my classroom, I balance quiet student thinking time with structured discussion and active learning. I believe students learn best when they have time to reflect, collaborate, and engage with meaningful content. My goal is to create lessons that not only build skills but also help students see the value of learning beyond the classroom.
