Hey, I enjoy your work a lot. CCGPS is a tremendous change since I am not departmentalized. Anyway, on your perimeter and area assessment, Number 25 and 26 ask the same exact question, but I am sure that you meant for 26 to ask for the PERIMETER of the shaded figure and not the area again. I only know because my kids were taking the test and they enlightened me! It is not a big deal, but I know I would want to know of any mistakes I made. Thanks, again!

Thank you so much for creating the common core math assessments! I am looking forward to downloading the unit 7 pack when you complete it. I teach in Illinois, and we are just beginning to make the transition to the common core from the Illinois standards. I was wondering how long you have been working with the common core and if you might have any tips or words of wisdom to offer to those of us in the process of changing over. Have you prepared or do you have a scope and sequence chart that you are following? I assume your sequence follows the material and standards covered by the unit assessments; however, I just wanted to double check on that. Thank you again for your help!

Hey! Thanks so much! :) This is actually my first year teaching Common Core. I have spend the last year or so really trying to study the standards. Most of the standards were pretty consistant with my state's old standards. Since Georgia's governor at the time was kind of one of the leads on the Common Core Standards committee, I don't think we saw as many changes as some other states. Mass and Capacity, and partitioning shapes and finding the area of the fraction of the shape were the big changes for us.
I am teaching the standards in the order of my unit packs. That's the way Georgia laid the framework out for us. You can see it at: https://www.georgiastandards.org/Common-Core/Pages/Math-K-5.aspx

Will you be creating math assessments for: Number and Operations-Fractions 1-3, Measurement Data 1-4, and Geometry 1 & 2? Next year we are going 100% common core and I would love to have all of the math assessments.

I will be making those soon. My goal is to get some, if not all of them done over Christmas break. I will be putting those 3 units into a bundle as well and then doing a mega bundle where they can all be purchased.

I like your assessments. When you started common core did you have to create your own curriculum and assessments or did you continue using/adapting the old curriculum. We use EnVision at the moment. Next year it is 100% Common Core.

Hey! I have Unit Packs created for the first four units. (I am still working on units 5-7). Each of those packs contains the three assessments for that unit. I also have an assessment bundle, which contains all of the first four unit packs (12 tests).

As far as class schedule, I'm really bad about sticking to a schedule everyday. I change it daily just based on the needs of that day. Some days I may have 30 minutes of quick math review, and some days we may have 2 hours of math practice. It all balances out in the week, but I just go by the current needs of my classroom! :)

I was planning on creating a pack bundle once I completed all 7 units. I only have 4 done right now. I was planning on bundling all 7 units for $30 (verses the $35 it would cost to buy each pack separate or $42 to buy each test separately). If you're interested, I could bundle the first 4 units that I have now for $17.50, and then I can bundle the last 3 units when I finish those for $12.50.

I completely understand! I am almost done with the area test & will get that finished tonight. I will make it my goal to get everything posted by tomorrow afternoon. Each test takes me a few hours to make anyway, and the area one is taking even longer because I'm having to create all the different area models too! :)

Just copy them front to back; fold down the the middle "hotdog style"; cut the dotted lines on the side with the vocabulary words only- the half of the paper with title and essential questions should not be cut. That way, they can just pull one word flap up at a time to see the definition, etc. Hope this helps. :)

I have taught 3rd grade in Georgia for 6 years, all of which have been collaborative classrooms! I LOVE teaching! My true love is curriculum development! I love to create fun activities for my students and challenging assessments. I set the bar HIGH in my classroom, but my students always rise to the occassion!
MY TEACHING STYLE
I like a little bit of everything! I do a lot of small group, formative assessments, reorganizing, and more small groups! I love cooperative learning activities, but I also love a good whole group discussion too! I like it all! Balancing all different strategies and styles is part of what makes my classroom successful!
