Teaching style

I love to use original materials adapted to my students' needs. I love to explain grammar and punctuation with meaningful examples. I use pair and group work, authentic materials, an organized classroom, and a structured syllabus to help my students do their best work. I use classroom incentives as a core component to encourage my students to contribute orally in class. I like to teach all language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking and challenge myself to engage my students in an authentic progression through these skills. I've enjoyed working with learners of a variety of L1 backgrounds. I love sharing my background and my world with my ESL students. Now that I am busy with my own children during their elementary school years, I am volunteering in their school. I help in the library, computer room, and in the classroom. I'm always happy to help out in Literature Circles where I am introduced to books I haven't read and where I often have the opportunity to test out my materials.
