Summary writing requires a simple writing style BUT it is not so simple to master. Summary writing is an important topic to tackle not only in the research process, but also when reading and writing about any text.

This printer friendly paraphrased version of "The Raven" is perfect for all students. It is broken down and organized by stanza-- all 18 of them. Graphics have been to make the poem more visually appealing.

Research Skills: Evaluating Secondary Web Sources Learning how to evaluate web sources is an important skill for students to learn. There are a plethora of resources available explaining how to evaluate sources, but most lack the practice students need before beginning their own research. Monster is a great read for reluctant readers! The novel itself is written in a movie script format and uses many courtroom terms. Therefore, a great preface to this novel is to familiarize students with courtroom and screenplay terminology.

Students absolutley loved this assignment! I designed this lesson to go along with "The Hunger Games" but it can be used without the novel as a writing assigment.
In this activity, students create their own reality show thinking about audience and purpose. They also have to think about the cast and why they are creating/choosing the people they do.
