Use a primary source to learn what the phrase "Manifest Destiny" means and how it applies to American History

Compare two different primary sources about the Erie Canal. Students will learn how the Erie Canal functioned and the importance of the canal.

Use a primary source to learn about what Lewis and Clark took on their Corps of Discovery journey. Students will use their cell phones to do a brain storm activity and look later look at the list of items actually taken on the expedition. Students will complete a persuasive writing assignment.

This is an activity that focuses on Articles 1, 2, and 3 of the Consitution. It can be done individually or in groups and students will sort the words/phrases into the different branches of government.
