About the store
I began my career as a special education teacher in a K-5 resource room at a public elementary school. I was responsible for providing instruction in the areas of reading, writing, math, social skills, and behavior. In addition to time spent in the classroom, I served on many school and district-level committees. Response to Intervention is a special interest of mine. While serving as a special education teacher, I worked with peers and the administration of my school district to develop a framework for implementing RTI in the area of reading. After three years in that position, I switched schools and began teaching 6th grade Language Arts, Social Studies, and Bible. Although I love working in special education, I felt called to challenge myself with a new instructional focus. I had also longed to be in a setting where I could share my faith with my students. In my position at the middle school, I worked closely with the administration to propose the adoption of benchmarking, regular progress monitoring of struggling students, and the implementation of RTI. Presently, I spend my time taking care of my two beautiful children, writing math intervention lessons, and scoring teaching certification portfolios.

Teaching style

I believe children want to learn and be successful. I rely on the "I do, we do, you do" model, especially when demonstrating a new skill or technique. When information is provided in appropriate-sized chunks, and students are recognized with praise and encouragement, all students experience growth and success!
