About the store
Lew Riley received his B.A. and M.A. in Communications from California State University, Fullerton. While earning his M.A., Lew began teaching writing courses at Cal-State Fullerton, and he's been teaching and writing professionally ever since. Lew has written several full-length comic plays that have been published and produced ("Game Show" is his most staged work; see dramaticpublishing.com), numerous magazine and newspaper articles, and a writing primer for the Avery Corporation ("Quick Writing Guide"). Currently, Lew is teaching online (after completing a three-year on-ground stint at DeVry University), writing (he just completed a screenplay, "Stealing Elvis") and rooting on the Anaheim Angels and Mighty Ducks, who play about ten miles from his home. (Watch out for the Angels; it could be a repeat of 2002!) Though Lew enjoys seeing his plays produced around the country, he considers his greatest "productions" his son, Christopher (17) and his daughter, Shannon (13).

The idea behind the "Quick Writing Guide" was to produce an easily accessible, hands-on primer for any and all students (and anyone else

"Supersize Your Basketball Skills" is a just-completed, 30 page videoscript that demonstrates how kids and adults can dramatically improve their game by learning and using the 6 Supreme Court Skills of basketball. The "star" is a local coach, Biff, who uses his son and daughter and his team of 7th and 8th grade girls to demonstrate these crucial skills; the presentation of each skill is followed by effective--and sometimes even fun--drills to help "students" learn these skills. This script,

Many of my students complain about having writer's block. For a long time, I, too, suffered from this paralyzing disorder. Then I read an interpretation of the popular dictum, "Writing is thinking." My interpretation of this particular interpretation instantly solved the problem of writer's block for me--and has subsequently helped myriad students of mine as well. My 600-word "explanation" can surely resonate with you if you or your students suffer from writer's block, an affliction that ca

The writing motto "Show, Don't Tell" is so crucial to writing success, and yet so many students don't pay heed to the theme of this most-important dictum.
