Teaching style

Having taught grades 3-5 for most of my career, primary (K-2) math is now a passion. I look for ways to prevent the gaps I saw in my 3-5 students. I try to create activities and resources that are engaging, but contain sound math. Multiple representations and activities that follow the CRA sequence of instruction are my specialty. I also try to make products that are easy for teachers to put together and implement in their classrooms.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I keep busy presenting at both the state and national level: NCTM Regional, Seattle, 2024; NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition, 2019; CMC South Conference, 2019; ASCD Empower19, 2019; Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT), 2013-2018; Missouri Early Learning Conference, 2016

My own education history

With an accounting information systems background, teaching is my second career, so I look at math through a real-world lens. I am a life-long learner and continue my education through online book studies, blogging, and reading.
