My students LOVE making inferences because they feel like they get to be detectives!! This is a great end of the unit assessment where students read a short description of something that has happened and have to make an inference based on the clues. The first four questions are multiple choice, followed by two fill in the blank questions, and finally the students are asked to fill in a graphic organizer to show how they made their inference. My students loved using their highlighter during th

Is your class having a hard time getting along? Do you feel like you're teaching social skills and problem solving OVER and OVER again? This is a fun assessment to see if kids really KNOW the right thing to do and how to solve problems. In 2nd grade I used this powerpoint to help prepare my students to recognize similar sounds in words when the letter combinations didn't match. This is a difficult concept for students, as they often look for the same letters and almost automatically choose matching letters, rather than matching sounds. GREAT PRACTICE BEFORE TESTING!
