CVC words are important for the developement of phonics and early literacy skills. I have created 20 CVC word mats that can be used in small groups or in literacy centers with either wipe off markers or letter tiles. I have also played a game with these mats by turning letters upside down and students take turns choosing tiles, if they can use the tile on their mat, they put it in the correnct spot, and do again. If they cannot use the tile, they put it back and it is the next students turn.

This is a sorting activity for common and proper nouns. Students love crafts and this one is great for assessing common and proper nouns after instruction. Simply cut out baskets and paste onto 9X12 constructions paper. Students then sort and glue the nouns above the appropriate basket.

This activity best works with small groups or in centers. Each student is given 2-3 ice cream cones with their corresponding ice cream scoops. Nonsense Word Fluency Tic Tac Toe Cards. Students take turns with wipe off markers, or place a colored chip on a square if they pronounce the nonsense word correctly. The first student to have three in a row wins. Just print and laminate the cards. I print them on astrobright paper.
