Order of Operations PEMDAS Number Fun

Created by

Each year, we math teachers begin the year by clearing those cobwebs out - practicing simplifying numerical expressions using the correct order of operations. Here's a fun way to do that. I allow students to work together to complete these exercises. This really stretches PEMDAS, including the concept of integer operations and factorial. For additional challenge, I ask the students to try to make a puzzle of their own using a date of yours or their choice.
