This is a great PowerPoint I use to teach my students about inferencing. I teach 6th grade and this is a great review of background knowledge + text clues = inferences. Each slide includes a picture where students need to infer what is happening and why by pulling out "text" clues. I love relating this type of inferencing to inferencing with text!
There are 24 slides total: 22 with pictures and the final slide summarizes and includes a graphic organizer! Enjoy!

Fantasy elements Power Point that I use to introduce our fantasy unit in 6th grade.
The Power Point includes 11 slides that students love to look at. First, students try to point out what makes each background considered fantasy. Then we go through the rest of the slides and fill in our notes.
While going through the presentation, students have a handout where they are required to fill in some blanks with information from the slides. There is also a teacher copy included.

I use this "Where are you?" chart in my classroom to keep track of where my students are.
Each student has a clothespin with their name on it. Everyday they start on the "absent" square. As they come in, they move their clip to "here". As the day continues, each time a student leaves the room they must move their clip to the correct destination. This is a great way for me to keep track of all the students that are out of the classroom!
I have included the following locations on the chart: Here
This is a great end of the year activity. Have students (especially those who are ending their last year at that school) write a letter to their favorite teacher or staff member. Once students have typed or written their letters, they can choose to hand deliver it to that person, or the teacher can give it to them. I have gotten so many thank-you's from people with this activity. We don't hear enough about how we've helped students, and this is a great way to do it!
This assessment includes sections on action verbs, helping verbs, linking verbs, and adverbs. Each section is broken up into points and a key is included. Students need to know the definition of the types of verbs, be able to pick them out of a sentence, tell what words they connect, and identify what kind they are when given in a sentence. This is a great culminating assessment to use once all types of verbs have been taught/reviewed.

I secretly send home this letter to parents a week before our standardized tests. Parents write a note of encouragement for each day. The morning before each test, I place the note on their desk. Students are so excited to see a note from home and it motivates them on the tests! This is great for any grade that has standardized tests.
Page dividers/headings for your substitute binder. Also includes a "while you were out" and "info at a glance" page.

This lesson on fragments and sentences is based off of Jeff Anderson's book "Mechanically Inclined". In his book, Anderson explains that we should teach grammar through exploration and properly formatted sentences and mentor texts. We should not teach grammar through revision and showing students what's incorrect and how to fix it. I highly recommend buying this book as a guide to your grammar instruction!
The lesson I have included is Lesson 1 - Fragments - What makes a sentence a sentence?

This is a great back to school/beginning of the year activity! I have students create a license plate message that reflects an interest that they have. They create it on a license plate template (attached), design it, color it, and cut it out. Then I have them put it on their locker so we know whose is whose. You could also use it as part of a name tag or for decoration! Direction sheet and license plate templates are included!

I taught a 4th grade standardized test prep course for math skills and used these entrance and exit slips everyday. I would give students the entrance slip to get an idea of what students knew prior to the lesson. Then I would teach a lesson on that skill (usually with SmartNotebook). At the end, they would work on the exit slip and hand it to me. This would show me if they understood the skill for that day and whether or not I needed to revisit it the next day. There are 12 pages included. Ther
