At Teaching in High Heels, we specialize in K-3 resources and simple classroom decor designed to engage and inspire. Our interactive activities are perfect for teachers creating a dynamic & welcoming classroom.
Over the past 18 years, I have had the privilege of teaching elementary students in various settings, including bilingual classrooms, working with recent immigrants, and teaching at Title 1 schools. My experience includes serving as a mentor teacher and recently completing certification in the science of reading, which have equipped me with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of early literacy. I have found that building strong foundational skills is crucial for student success, and this is a guiding principle in my resource creation. My goal is to provide teachers with high-quality resources that are engaging, effective, and designed to foster a love of learning.

My teaching style is nurturing and innovative, focusing on differentiated instruction. I believe that every student can succeed with the right support, and my resources reflect this by providing adaptable materials that cater to diverse learning needs. In my classroom, I strive to create an inclusive and engaging environment, ensuring that all students feel valued and motivated. By incorporating hands-on activities, my materials aim to enhance student engagement and comprehension, making learning accessible and enjoyable for all students.
Awards & shining teacher moments
A highlight of my career was seeing a struggling reader blossom into a confident, enthusiastic learner after implementing targeted phonics interventions, which demonstrated the effectiveness of research-based teaching approaches. This recognition and experience motivate me to continue developing resources that are innovative and impactful, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and develop a love for learning.
My own education history
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Sul Ross State University, and later obtained a Certification in The Science of Reading through the University of Texas. My academic background has provided me with a solid foundation in lesson planning and instructional design, allowing me to develop resources that are well-structured and highly effective. My studies at Sul Ross State University were particularly focused on differentiated instruction, which has greatly influenced my approach to creating inclusive educational materials. This educational journey has been instrumental in shaping my philosophy that every student deserves a tailored learning experience.
Additional biographical information
Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading and being outdoors, with hiking being one of my favorite activities. These interests often inspire my educational materials. My passion for exploring nature helps me bring real-world elements into the classroom, making learning more engaging and dynamic for my students. Additionally, I am involved as the Director of Youth Ministry at my local Catholic Parish, which enriches my perspective and enhances my teaching practices. Balancing these interests with my professional life allows me to create well-rounded and diverse resources for educators.
