With these task cards and fun caption activities, your students will get plenty of practice with the correct use of quotation marks, punctuation, and capitalization when quoting someone's exact words. Printable AND digital options are included!
Download includes:
★ A reference sheet that explains the rules for punctuation and capitalization for three different locations of the quote.
★ 24 task cards for identifying the correct punctuation and capitalization.
★ Two different types of answer sheets to choose from: (1) a recording sheet to enter the letter of the correct answer or (2) a recording sheet to circle the letter of the correct sentence, and then rewrite the entire sentence for extra practice with writing quotations and using appropriate punctuation and capitalization.
★ Two short activities for students to caption a scene, and then practice writing it as a quote within a sentence. Two options are given: easier - place attribution before and after the quote, and more challenging - place attribution at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of the quote. This activity is also a great way to have your students thinking about alternatives to the word "said" in attributions.
