Description

Experiments galore! This makes you the coolest teacher ever! Kids love inquiry based learning and there are over 50 pages full of hands on inquiry focusing on plant adaptations and their habits and habitat, that engages and promotes learning in this complete, interactive science unit of inquiry. It is fully transdisciplinary. UK & USA spelling included.
I created this for our IB PYP theme of Sharing the Planet, with our central idea of:
Living things adapt in a variety of ways for life in their environment.
Our lines of inquiry are:
>How and why living things are classified (function)
>Impact of adaptations on survival (causation)
>How human’s actions play a role (responsibility)

You will find:
Interactive notebook activities, 18 in all.
Science experiments for photosynthesis, seed dispersal and more
Task cards for math, literacy and science
Collaborative group work tasks
Formative assessments and homework
Summative assessment
Answers, where possible & examples of children's’ work.
Interactive web sites and cool learning videos
And much more besides.

Designed for my 4th graders, this unit can be used with 3rd -6th grade. You can also find this unit included in my larger unit of inquiry Adaptations of Living Things, which includes plants and animals.
There are many more IB PYP units, ideas and resources found in my store and on my blog at www.pypteachingtools.com

Enjoy!

I bought this hoping to be able to adapt it to my needs for my first graders who were really interested in adaptations. It is a good resource, but I was not able to use it with my age group as much as I had hoped.
