Description
Teach your students to read Chinese using little Chinese readers. The readers are developmentally appropriate to help students build their Chinese vocabulary using picture clues and the few basic Chinese characters they have learned.
This reader reviews Chinese numbers from one to five and introduces some food items. It also introduces three common measure words used in Chinese.
Little Chinese readers are 8-page books that provide children an opportunity to practice reading characters in context and to help build confidence and develop fluency. The text follows a predictable pattern and is supported by images, making them ideal for emergent readers in bilingual and immersion classrooms. The last page includes Chinese characters learned in the text. It allows students a chance to read and recognize Chinese characters out of context.
The little readers can be used while working with the entire class, in small groups, or one-on-one with individual children. They can also be assigned as homework for additional practice to reinforce Chinese characters learned in the classroom. They can also be used in class during independent reading practice or in a learning center. Illustrations are black and white so they can be colored by students. Many of the sentences include color words. Students demonstrate comprehension of the sentences when they color the pictures correctly.
