Part of the difficulty of learning beginning addition and subtraction is all the (complicated!) vocabulary words and sentence structures associated with different forms of the same functions. Somewhere between add, increase, plus, more, altogether and... my EL students often get lost. This 3 page worksheet set will help students (especially ELs!) sort out the words in a meaningful mathematical context, and a sentence frame.

Students complete sentences using key content vocabulary words. They demonstrate their understanding of the key words by solving the math problem that is also part of the sentence.
