Description

Help students remember the steps to the various algorithms for each operation with these easy to use posters!

Each poster has an example that is color-coded to correspond to the listed steps.

There are versions of each poster with and without a colored border (depending on your personal preference).

These are formatted for 8.5 x 11". There are also directions for how they can be printed to be large multi-page posters.

For each algorithm, bulletin board headings are also included.

Addition

  • 2-Digit & 3-Digit versions
  • Algorithms include: Compensation, Jump Strategy, Column addition, Standard/US Traditional, Split Strategy/Partial Sums

Subtraction

  • 2-Digit & 3-Digit versions (each with and without trading)
  • Algorithms include: Break-Apart, Trade-First, Counting Up, Expand-and-Trade, Constant Difference/Compensation, Standard/US Traditional

Multiplication

  • 1-Digit x 2-Digit, 1-Digit x 3-Digit, 2-Digit x 2-Digit versions
  • Algorithms include:Area Model/Grid Method/Partitioning Rectangles, Lattice Method, Partial Products, Standard/Traditional U.S.

Division

  • 2-Digit ÷ 1-Digit and 3-Digit ÷ 1-Digit
  • Algorithms include: Area Model, Box/Grid Method, Partial Quotients, Standard/Traditional U.S.
