**5 Day Focus Lessons**
5 Day Focus units are sets of 5 lessons focusing on building foundations of addition and subtraction, numbers and operations to 20 & numbers and operations to 100. Each mini-unit includes a pre and post assessment, 5 days of DETAILED lessons following the CRA (Concrete, Representative, Abstract) framework for developing a skill, daily independent practice lessons & daily tickets out the door to use for progress monitoring.
Ultimately, 14 units will be included in this resource. Units 1-3 focus on Kindergarten standards and build a foundation. Units 4-9 build understanding of numbers and operations for numbers to 20. Units 10-14 extend number and operation understanding to numbers to 100.
**Word Problem Notebooks**
These 10 word problem notebooks can be used for daily practice, an independent math center or assessment. Each notebook has a seasonal theme and includes 25 word problems, 5 each of put together, take apart, add to, take from and comparison. The templates leave room for students to draw a math picture to make sense of the problem, create a math model leading to an equation, an equation and a statement. Final themes will include:
**Seasonal Math Centers**
Within the 5 Day Focus lessons, you will find that there are daily independent activities that can be used over and over as math centers. These seasonal math centers are supplemental activities that can be used to create spiral review opportunities for your students throughout the year. Each season includes 27 math centers which includes at least one math center for every single first grade math standard. These are fun and engaging activities your students will enjoy completing. Every single math center includes a recording form to hold your students accountable to the activities they are completing.
*See the included above for a sample math center!*
There are 4 pillars of number sense including spatial relationships, 1 or 2 more and 1 or 2 less than any given number, part/part/whole relationships, and using 5 and 10 as benchmark numbers. These relationships are embedded THOROUGHLY within the unit lessons as well as the math centers. For this reason, I am not providing a "daily fluency" as related to pure number sense concepts. It is simply not necessary to pull out another disconnected component when these skills can be fluidly and thoroughly embedded into daily work.
I am including print & play partner games for addition and subtraction sums to 20. While you are providing top notch instruction, your students will need extensive exposure and repeated opportunities to work with these facts to move them to long term memory. This bundle also includes a Fluency Strategy & Assessment Guide. This 30+ page guide includes all of the information you need to understand how your students gain fact fluency and the most direct path you can take to help your students become fluent. The guide also includes assessments and instructions for how to assess in a way that will allow you to make the smartest decisions on how to instruct even your trickiest math students.
