Description

Challenge your students to solve addition word problems with sums that range from 1 to 20 with these print and go worksheets. Your students will demonstrate their knowledge of addition facts through various strategies on each page. Students will practice ten frames, part, part, whole, number sentences, number lines and writing about their answer. They will be experts after using this fun packet.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS PACKET?

Each page has:

· The word problem and a matching piece of clip art

· A box to draw a picture

· A ten frame

· Part part whole box

· Space to write a number sentence

· A number line to complete

· An area to write about the answer

The first section of this packet provides an area at the bottom of the page where students will write about their answer. The pages that have this bottom have:

· The first 10 pages have sums to 10 and are in black and white

· The second 10 pages repeat and are in color

· The third 10 pages have sums to 20 and are in black and white

· The fourth 10 pages repeat and are in color.

The second section of this pack has an area at the bottom where students need to defend their answer. They are asked if the sum is correct or incorrect and then asks the students to say why. Pages are repeated from the format above just with the different bottom portion.

HOW DO I USE THIS IN MY CLASSROOM?

When I teach these to my students, I start doing the first few in a whole group setting. At this point in my year, I have pre-taught all of these concepts to my students (how to use various strategies while working on a word problem like drawing a picture, filling in a ten frame, filling in a part part whole chart, writing a number sentence, using a number line and writing a sentence to justify their answer).

Once I have taught these concepts and then have gone through this page a couple of times with my students, I then move these to an independent station for my kids to do on their own. They love doing these pages.
