The box or window method is a strategy used for multi-digit multiplication. It is called the box or window method strategy because it uses boxes or windows to represent the parts of the factors in an equation. This strategy is also referred to as the partial products method because it breaks the factors or numbers break the numbers into smaller parts and then multiply the parts; when then are added together to get the equation’s product.

- N05.04 Describe a solution procedure for determining the product of two given two-digit factors, using a pictorial representation such as an area model.
- N05.06 Create and solve multiplication story problems, and record the process symbolically.
