Description
This set of three adding and subtracting decimals math centers contains: a modeling decimal addition and subtraction game, strip diagrams showing decimal addition and subtraction, and a set of real world scenario word problems.
100s Grid Game
The game A “Whole” Lot of Decimals uses models and decimal numbers only to the hundredths place.
Strip Diagram Task Cards
The strip diagram task cards do not use physical models, but the strip diagram allows students to use this to differentiate between addition and subtraction. There are two sets of cards: the blue set adds or subtracts two numbers, the green set adds three numbers or adds two and then subtracts. In this set the last five cards of each are to the thousandths place, so they can be used or removed based on the level of your students.
Word Problem Task Cards
The Word Problem Task Cards are rigorous real-world scenario based problems. They are written to encourage students to use modeling and problem solving rather than key words. The last three cards can be included or removed based on the level of your students; they use decimals in the thousandths place.
