HOW TO USE IT?

  • In a poetry-specific unit. I use it as a way to break through students' discomfort with analyzing poetry. I find that trying to create their own poems demystifies poetry enough that they're willing to take risks to figure out just what William Carlos Williams is doing with that red wheelbarrow!
  • In National Poetry Month in April
  • On random days throughout the year so students explore form & play with words. Choose 2-3 themes and have students rotate through the Forms to create super poems. Next time you offer, switch up which students write for which poems and build on previous version or create something brand new. LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES!

NOTE: Links to Google Forms™ in START HERE files.
