"I love this activity as a morning tub. I love that students have to use the picture to see if the sticks go over or under and create the image the same way. I will use this with my beginning kindergartners next year - maybe begin with partners to start. Thank you!"

STEM subjects teach students how to think critically and solve problems.

Instructions

Instruct your students to build the shapes (2D) according to

the image examples by using the required amount of resources (craft sticks).

Make it more challenging by instructing students to use the correct colors according to the mats and have students count the sides.

My kids loved being able to create 2d shapes using Popsicle sticks and they were able to count the number of sides the shapes contained, along with vertices. It is great that you use Popsicle sticks because they are generally cheap and easy to find. I was able to let my early finishers work on this task. I also used it for my center activities.
