⭐ Supermarket Spree is a 2nd grade project based learning PBL activity for second graders to add and subtract within 100, count money, solve word problems, budget, plan, and carry out a grocery shopping trip.
⭐ Your parents have given you the responsibility of going to the supermarket and purchasing all the food and necessary items your family will need for the week. It is your job to budget for all the items, compare costs of similar items, analyze sales prices, and make other decisions about your family’s grocery purchases.
⭐ This resource contains a standards-based unit in both printable PDF and Google Slides versions - so it's the perfect activity to increase engagement and interest in any classroom. Students follow instructions on using addition and subtraction within 100, and solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies, and more! Additional "challenge activities" engage students and develop further understanding of the concepts and skills.
⭐ This project-based learning task that involves using the following CCSS math standards to solve problems related to grocery shopping.

- 2.NBT.A.2 Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.
- 2.NBT.B.5 Fluently add and subtract within 100.
- 2.NBT.B.6 Add up to four two-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
