Playing games is a fun way to engage and motivate students. Use this 24 problem 2nd grade PowerPoint math game for review or as engaging test preparation for end of the year assessments. The problems address the second grade math Common Core Standards. This game show style ready to play game is perfect for spiral math review or test preparation. You can also use this game at the beginning of 3rd grade to quickly assess the mastery of your students on the math skills they learned in second grade.
The 24 problems are a mix of second grade problems that support the CCSS. There are 6 different categories from which students can choose: Addition , Subtraction, Geometry, Place Value, Measurement, Time and Graphing. There are 4 problems in each category ranging from 100 points to 400 points. The problems increase in difficulty as the point value increases.
To play the game, all you have to do is download the zip file and open the game. If you would like to use the optional recording sheets, then the only real preparation is to print them out. The game is great to use as test preparation or spiral math review.
You can play this game as a whole group in teams, or you can play in small groups. Have students choose a category and for the amount of points. Once students have answered the problem you can click anywhere on the screen to have the answer appear. Once you return to the game board slide, the problems that have been answered will change color.
