Description

Need an easy way to teach 2nd graders how to partition rectangles into equal parts? This no-prep geometry activity set aligns with 2.GA.2 and helps students master rows and columns through hands-on practice!

I have a solution for you:

*Fun! Hands-on visuals!

*Differentiating Rows and Columns!

*How to use your fingers as a strategy to visualize the partition lines to be drawn.

*Practice partitioning the rectangles with visual prompts.

*Practice pages for partitioning rectangles into rows and columns.

*Can be used at a center for extra practice.

*One practice page has 1 big rectangle that you can either laminate or put into sheet protectors to introduce the idea of drawing horizontal and vertical lines.

*Another practice page has 4 rectangles for students who need bigger rectangles and less items on the page. The other practice page has 9 smaller rectangles that can be duplicated back to back to provide several opportunities to practice individually or with a partner.

Perfect For: Small groups, independent practice, math centers, special ed, etc.

Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.G.A.2
