This cute caterpillar template can be used for young artists to discover how secondary colors are made. It can be printed onto 8.5" by 11" cardstock or a similar paper suitable for watercolors. Guide students in using only primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) to paint the circles and watch how the overlapped areas create secondary colors (orange, green, and purple)! Pair it with a caterpillar story since they probably won't take 30 minutes to paint it. Also, older students can use circle tracers to draw their own caterpillars before painting them!
