- Successive blending boards are a great universal tool for students who struggle to decode due to deficits in working memory (the ability to store and manipulation information). Because the last letter in the word is hidden until the next slide (in Level 4-5 only), and it is expected that all students hold the first two sounds before moving to the next slide, all students blend and decode the words simultaneously! That means your struggling readers are not left behind to simply repeat the words they hear fluent readers decoding!
- Simple, cognitive BRAIN BREAKS make these slides fun for kids! After every 4-5 words the students read, there is a surprise slide featuring a photo of cute animal....Just enough fun to provide a quick cognitive break for your active learners, but not enough of a distraction to derail your lesson!
- If you want to differentiate instruction for small groups, you can easily change between Level 5 to Level 1 to reduce support.
