During the school year 2022-2023, I became aware of information that is readily accessible to Minnesota teachers through the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). This information prompted me to invest several hours, days, weeks, and even months in reviewing the benchmark rubrics and released questions associated with each Minnesota math standard at the grade level I was instructing. What I discovered was that I was not been teaching these standards in the intended manner. It's surprisingly easy to misinterpret one or two-sentence standards, and I realized that I had been doing so for several years. This revelation opened my eyes to the true requirements of teaching our students at each grade level when it comes to Minnesota math standards. This information is scattered amongst the links on the Minnesota Department of Education website, so I have placed the important information on one document for easy accessibility.
