Make a realistic 3D monarch butterfly with optional insect anatomy labels using our printable template.

This educational kids' craft comes in both full colour and black and white line art, which you can leave blank to look like a botanical drawing or colour in to decorate with your own artistic flair.

You can also make it with or without the body part labels.

Print the template of your choice to card stock (recommended for sturdiness) and simply cut out, fold tabs, and glue together.

This craft is great for kids learning about butterflies or minibeasts. Also perfect as a Spring or Summer-themed craft.

This digital download includes:

• Printable instructions with step-by-step photographs

• Labelled and unlabelled templates in both full colour as well as line art

• The file is saved as a PDF document in US Letter size. To print to A4 select 'fit to page' in print menu.

I was initially worried that this activity would be too difficult for my 2nd graders but after doing it ahead of time myself and recording a tutorial video for them to follow along, my students were all able to successfully create their own monarch 3d model! They were so proud to have them displayed in our classroom and it always draws attention from parent and school visitors when they pop into the classroom. I also teach a bat, trout/salmon, and aquatic macro-invertebrate unit so I'd be so excited to find a 3D anatomy project to go with those!
