Description

The #1 complaint from math teachers is that kids don't know their basic facts. This low-prep game will increase your students' speed and accuracy while making it an easy-to-assign bell work, morning work, center, or tutoring game.

{Download the preview for 2 free games to practice the 1s and 2s.}

Math It, Match It: Division is similar to Spot It (or Dobble) in that students find matches between cards; however, this set is different in that there are two decks, expressions & quotients, to help them master their division facts.

Set Up

Print & cut apart the set of cards for the divisor you need students to work on. If having more than 3 students working together, I would suggest printing a second copy & mixing them together. For the division cards, you can mix decks (for example, use both the 3s and 4s expression cards) because all of the quotients are between 1-12.

Game Play

Players start with 3 expression cards face down in front them. In the center is the quotient deck with the top card showing. In this game of speed, there is no taking turns. Students race to find a matching quotient, call out the complete equation, and then take the top card & set it to the side with their card, thus making a match. When the player goes through their 3 cards, they draw cards from the expression pile. The game is over when all cards are used.

Scoring

To score, students count how many matches there are. (More division practice!) All sets will have at least one match, but there may be some with more than one match. 6s & 9s can be interchanged because they can be flipped! The person with the most matches, not necessarily cards, wins.

What's Included

  • 12 sets of cards (1s-12s), each with 12 expression and 12 quotient cards (24 cards per set)
  • Cover Page for Centers
  • Directions
  • Labels for each set

Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
