Description

Please note: THIS IS AN ACTIVE INSPIRE (ACTIVBOARD) PROMETHEAN FLIP CHART.
If you have a SMART board or a MIMEO (which is what I have) you can still use this flip chart. A free version of Active Inspire for personal use is available on the promethean.com website. You can download this and then open the chart and project it on your Smart Board or with your Mimeo. I have a Mimeo in my room, but use it to project all of my Promethean flip charts.

I created this flip chart as a review for my 3rd graders with the Commutative and Distributive properties for multiplication. We are currently using the Engage NY math modules in my classroom, so this flip chart corresponds with Module 1.
This flip chart can be used whole group as a review or even as a quiz. I typically have my students do the work on their whiteboards although I have included a worksheet that the students can use to record their answers (see the preview file which contains the worksheet).

Can be used as review for 4th graders or even end of year second grade.

Any questions, please ask!
Thank you!

Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide. Examples: If 6 × 4 = 24 is known, then 4 × 6 = 24 is also known. (Commutative property of multiplication.) 3 × 5 × 2 can be found by 3 × 5 = 15, then 15 × 2 = 30, or by 5 × 2 = 10, then 3 × 10 = 30. (Associative property of multiplication.) Knowing that 8 × 5 = 40 and 8 × 2 = 16, one can find 8 × 7 as 8 × (5 + 2) = (8 × 5) + (8 × 2) = 40 + 16 = 56. (Distributive property.)
