My school recently started using Envision Mathematics, and I quickly realized students were lacking daily review on concepts they had learned in past units. I utilized the daily review the curriculum provided, but it wasn't providing consistent spiraling of all concepts and was still very word problem heavy. My students were struggling to remember the mathematical skills we had learned throughout units, and were simply not getting the consistent practice they needed.
I created this spiral review as a way to give them that constant practice throughout the year. The review builds throughout the units as new concepts are introduced, and instead of focusing on word problems, the five questions for each day focus on the key mathematical concepts (multiplication and division facts, multiplication with multiple digit numbers, comparing fractions, etc.) that were at the core of each lesson.
This has been valuable for my students because it is giving them the daily practice and review that they need. It has also been encouraging for students who struggle with reading, because it gives them a break from the long (often convoluted) word problems, and allows them to show what they really understand and have retained from the math concepts we have learned.
The paper version that aligns with Envision also includes a note showing which lesson each problem is based on. This way if a student is struggling to remember a concept, they can easily turn back to that lesson and review.

My school started using Envision Mathematics, and I realized that while a digital "lesson check" was included in the materials, it usually contained only high level word problems that were overly challenging for most of the kids in my classes. This often led to my students only feeling more confused and frustrated, and it didn't help me determine if they actually understood the key content of the lesson.
To solve this problem I created a set of exit tickets/lesson reviews for the year. It allows you to quickly assess which students need extra support or are ready for more challenging work, and makes it easy to adjust instructional plans for the next day based on the trends you see. I've found the digital version is especially helpful because after students take it in class I can immediately pull individuals or small groups of students aside for reteaching and support before they get too far on their independent practice page.

While the unit tests provided by Envision Mathematics are rigorous, they often contain many high level word problems and questions that were designed to stretch and challenge students beyond what they have learned in class instead of assessing the foundational learning that has been taking place throughout the unit. This often leaves my students feeling frustrated and it can be hard to determine if they understand the key content of each lesson and are ready to move on to the next unit.
This set of pre- and posttests for each unit helps solve that problem. Every question focuses on the key learning from a specific lesson, and they are marked so you can quickly assess which lessons will need additional support and reteaching. The pretest and posttests are aligned, so you can easily assess how each individual student progressed throughout the unit.
