This Addition Choice Board is not only a great way to see WHAT your students know about adding multi-digit numbers with and without regrouping, but to see HOW they can apply their knowledge. With 9 high-interest activities spanning a variety of learning styles, each child in your class will be able to demonstrate how well they understand addition skills and concepts.

WHY CHOICE BOARDS?

Choice boards are an amazingly versatile classroom tool. These activities would be great as a center activity in your classroom, or as an option for early finishers. You can utilize the choice board as enrichment, or use it as an alternative assessment. The activity sheets would also be great to add to a student portfolio!

Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties of operations. For example, observe that 4 times a number is always even, and explain why 4 times a number can be decomposed into two equal addends.
