Description

Math Performance Task based on SBAC performance tasks. Do you have students who don't understand that addition and subtraction are used in real life? Do you want them to value their math skills for their real life application?

This is a great way to practice CCSS with your students!!! The tasks focus on fractions, time, shapes, addition, subtraction, and more, but with a board game theme in which they are asked to plan their own board games. This is a fun way to get students thinking critically about the skills they have learned. This product now includes a digital Google Slides version too!

Includes:

  • Presentation for Whole Group Activity
  • Individual Center, Assessment, or Group Activity
  • Online Version (for Google Drive or Microsoft Onedrive)

Performance Tasks are one of the most difficult part of the SBAC for 3rd graders because there are so many steps involved. This resource is super handy and it is great practice for my students as the SBAC is closely approaching! Thank you!

I felt like after I purchased this that it wasn't really a SBAC test prep, but more of a Project Based Learning Lesson. I would have liked to see more rigor. I am looking for something that I could do for an hour or two that could be cute, but has the rigor and could be fun... but truly actually preps my students for the SBACS. I didn't feel it would be very useful for class. The game was very confusing to try and follow.

Iโ€™m very sorry you were not happy with the quality of this performance task. I have had teachers repeatedly use these and tell me how challenging they were for their students. I have also had many teachers tell me they seem to almost mirror the SBAC performance tasks they have used in the past with their students and that it took close to a week to complete as a class. One option you might like, is my fourth grade performance tasks if you want to extend your studentsโ€™ learning even more. I will also think about further extensions that could be added to make these even more challenging. I will also look at the directions to see if there is a way to make them more clear.
