Description
3rd graders really need to know and understand academic vocabulary for math concepts. Mastering that math vocabulary helps kids explain their thinking which is an essential part of learning today. This set of third grade math vocabulary cards, along with their own personal math dictionary, will help your students learn and use those important math words.
WHAT YOU WILL GET
This resource includes:
- 66 math vocabulary word cards with definitions
- Heading card for "Math Words of the Week"
- Heading card for "Math Words of the Day"
- Personal math dictionary cover and pages
- Weekly vocabulary list template for interactive notebook
- Digital (Easel) versions of the dictionary page and weekly word list template
The key vocabulary words included in this resource are based on Common Core math standards, but are found in almost every 3rd grade classroom no matter what curriculum your school district uses.
The cards are sized to fit in a standard pocket chart with the long pockets but can also be hung on your math word wall. Each card includes the word plus a student-friendly definition.
The dictionary pages have space for students to draw their own illustration, model, or example of new terms they need to remember. I give my students their dictionary at the beginning of the year to keep inside their math folders. They always have it right at their fingertips to refer to as needed throughout our math lessons. The cover is provided in both color and black and white.
The words in this resource cover concepts of place value, operations, fractions, geometry, data, and measurement. A complete list of the third grade math vocabulary cards that are included can be found in the preview.
Teaching math vocabulary sometimes takes a back seat to problem solving and learning math facts. But the good news is if you spend a few minutes on it each day and make it a regular part of your math block this school year, your students will be well prepared for fourth grade and beyond!
Please download the PREVIEW to see everything that you will get with this resource.
