Description

Do your students need help with writing research? Do some students take a long time getting started? How do you scaffold instruction for students with special accommodations in writing? This product is the answer to these questions. It includes a fill-in-the blank language writing frame for conducting a research project on a wild animal. There are four paragraphs included in this writing frame that cover the scientific characteristics of all animals. Additionally, the product includes a writing rubric and glossary.

This product addresses the following Common Core State Standards (CCSS):

Research to Build and Present Knowledge:

  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.7
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.8

Range of Writing:

  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.10

Educational Purpose

Language writing frames serve as a job aid for the students’ writing task. In instructional design, this type of job aid is called an array. This particular frame addresses the research topic of animals. The purpose of the writing job aid is to assist students with a framework, a starting place for those needing to develop their writing skills. It can be especially helpful for students who speak English as a second language. Moreover, it includes the important scientific elements that students should learn about animals in general. Therefore, their research about a particular animal will not omit any of the key characteristics that animals share.

Here's a sample fill-in-the blank statement in the writing frame:

"Animals get the things they need from their surroundings. [Insert the name of your animal here]______________ find food by __________________________________."

This is a popular item that has been purchased numerous times. It was updated in 2019. Thanks for shopping Teacherrogers store!
