What Is Grab It?

How to Play:

  • Step 1: Lay out all the circle cards. Place the rectangle cards in a stack where all players can see them.
  • Step 2: Flip over the top rectangle card.
  • Step 3: Students race to find and grab the matching circle card.
  • Step 4: The first player to grab the correct match keeps the card as a point.
  • Step 5: Keep playing until all rectangle cards have been used. The player with the most cards at the end wins.

What's Included?

  • 24 Game Cards: Fifth grade math playing cards for practicing math skills.
  • Color & Black and White: Choose between color or ink-saving black and white versions.
  • Answer Key: Makes the game easy to use for student-led centers, self-checking activities, or with a substitute.

Switch Up the Fun: More Ways to Play

  • Collaborative Match-Up: Students work together to match all the cards. This makes it a great cooperative math center activity.
  • Team Challenge: Split students into teams and let them race to find the correct matches together.
  • Beat the Clock: Students play once, record their time, and then play again to see if they can match the cards faster.
  • Partner Check-In: Each student looks for their own match, but both partners must find their cards before moving on to the next round.
  • Classroom Scavenger Hunt: Spread the circle cards around the room. Give each student a rectangle card and have them walk around to find the matching card.
  • Whole-Class Showdown: Place the circle cards around the room and show the class one rectangle card. Students race to find the correct match first for a quick whole-group review game.
