Are you tired of students mumbling "I'm sorry" and expecting all of their problems to magically disappear? The 4-step apology is a great way to teach your students how to take responsibility for their mistakes and make things right with people they've wronged.

I use the 4-step apology in restorative compliment/apology circles with my third graders, and it has really helped my students learn the language they need to communicate in tough situations like when feelings are hurt. With a little practice, these genuine apologies become second nature!

This is exactly what I was looking for! In my class, problems among students are occurring more frequently during recess and lunch. So after students come back to class, we do a peace circle to solve the problems, if there is any. This resource has the perfect sentence frames to help guide my students.

I paired this with a book (2nd grade- How To Apologize by David LaRochelle, 3rd grade - Sorry by Trudy Ludwig, 4th - The Summer My Father Was Ten by Pat Brisson). Then we role played the 4-Step Apology. It has been a great resource.
