Description
Save time and help your 4th graders review long division with one-step and multi-step problems! This low-prep 4th grade division math lesson includes a lesson plan, 14 practice problems, and an answer key. This lesson is aligned to the 4th grade math TEKS (4.4F).
Why this Lesson?
Division can be challenging for 4th graders. Students also need to practice setting up the problems on paper to prepare them to take STAAR online. This lesson is ideal for small groups and prepares ALL students to be successful, including students who receive accommodations, by breaking down division problem-solving into 2 skills.
Skills
1. Solve 2-digit by 1-digit, 3-digit by 1-digit, and 4-digit by 1-division problems. Encourage your students to use their math notebooks or grid paper to organize their work!
2. Solve one-step and multi-step division word problems.
Note: Some problems require students to divide into the second digit of the dividend and some will have a zero in the quotient.
What’s Included?
1. A standards-aligned lesson plan with step-by-step directions for reviewing each skill with the gradual release model. Examples of questions to ask and ways to support struggling students are also included. You could even use this for sub plans!
2. Student pages with reader-friendly practice problems and purposeful scaffolding that gradually fades to support independence.
3. An answer key with worked examples.
